Faustine Steinmetz is a designer from Paris and during the London Fashion Week in September this year she was excited to debut her new spring / summer 2015 collection to the fashion world. The Parisian is now based out of the East End of London and continues to design some really iconic pieces. Her pieces are not just luxurious but are all completely hand made. They are real staple designs, the kind that you will have likely had in your own wardrobe in the not too distant past. One of the areas she’s been recently involved in is denim. From using yard with metallic elements and woven tapestry, her jeanswear is causing some big names to pay attention and rightly so in our opinion. With the hippy (think “save the whales”) crowd, we are all well aware that recycling and upcycling are very “in” at the moment. Steinmetz has perhaps caught onto this fact herself as she boasts that some pieces are created from entirely recycled denim, generated by un-weaving denim jeans and then reusing the yarn to create a different item. The only other interesting show worth mentioning was a “graffiti handbag” collection put together by a relatively unknown Anya Hindmarch. This seems completely mad at first glance. I mean, who in the right mind would want to have a graffiti handbag? Someone trying to be cool maybe or just your average nutter who has given up on life and is trying to make a statement of some kind? Anyway, looking into the matter a little further, it would appear the Hindmarch has actually been quite successful. She opened her first shop at the age of 18 and is now the proud owner of over 50 of them. If people are actually interested in buying this kind of stuff then good look to her.
